First Week of the New Buhler Adventures

Becca is now 12 days old and already knows how to command a room. Kieran had to go back to work last Friday and Grandma was able to stay with us for a day but this week Becca and I have been completely on our own. I'm lucky to have such a good sleeper...at night, but she loves being awake and alert all day, making it very difficult for me to get anything done.
I am already in tune to her different whimpers and cries and it feels so good when all it takes to soothe her is my voice or holding her close. It is truly amazing how much love I have for this little creature already. I cannot imagine life without her and her sweet spirit. Kieran and I are so blessed to have be allowed to raise this gorgeous girl and anxiously await the many adventures she will allow us to have.
A picture in this case is worth more than a thousand words...I have the most beautiful little girl! Enjoy my joy!

She is the cutest easter egg ever!

Big Stretches
Kieran is adjusting quite well to being a daddy

Becca loves her hands and always has them next to her face

I love this picture! I have the cutest daughter ever!

We've already ruined her, she has become accustomed to sleeping right between us. This can't last very long.

Becca came home a little jaundice and had to be under Bili lights. She hated it just as much as we did.

This is the first sign of the Buhler toe pinch! Watch out!!

Her first outfit, this is the first thing we bought when we found out we were having a girl.

BECCA IS HERE!!!

At last, after 39 weeks and 6 days of waiting out little Becca has come into our family! She is the perfect little baby, except in the middle of the night when she wants to eat constantly! LOL Everyone tells us how beautiful she is, (as if we don't know already!). She was born 10 am on Friday, July 2nd. She weighed 7 lb 5.2 oz and is 19" long.

Our adventure started Thursday, I had been feeling little contractions throughout the day but didn't think much of it, I even went on a couple walks to kick start things but I didn't think it would actually help. I went to bed at about 10 pm, said a little prayer that she would come that night, and got a little sleep, Kier came to bed at around 12:30 but wasn't able to go to sleep because my contractions started hitting hard and fast. Within an hour they went from coming every 11 minutes to every 3. The whole while Kieran was getting way too excited and started packing the car, luckily my hospital bag had been packed for a month because I was in no state to tell him what to grab and where it was located. As we left the house at 2:30 am and started driving to the hospital I started cursing myself for praying this would all happen tonight, man those contractions hurt!
We got to the hospital and were put in a triage room to make sure I was in real labor. Normally they let you sit for an hour and see if you have dialated another centimeter, unfortunately I hadn't progressed from a 4 but my blood pressure was a little high and my water bag was really low so they let me stay for 3 hours to see if I progressed. Lucky for me they found compassion on this first time mom and gave me a morphine shot to take the edge off the contractions and Kier and I were able to sleep. So at 6 am they checked me again and I was at a 5, I was admitted and was given an epidural right away. I tell ya, that drug is the greatest thing on earth! I felt better immediately and Kieran and I were again able to sleep some more, poor Kieran was finally running out of his adrenalin high and feeling the effects of a truly sleepless night. I had my water broken at 7 and at about 8 I had gone from 5 centimeters to 9. Just skipped 6, 7, and 8. Now remember I was sleeping through all the progression because of my marvelous drugs! At 9 I was 10 centimeters and they said that at 10 am we would start pushing. At that point the drugs were taking care of the contractions but the pressure was almost just as bad as our little baby descended and was ready to make her entrance. They figured they would let me push a little early to ease some of the pressure but quickly had to call the doctor in and tell me to stop because she was coming. After about 15 minutes of pushing, at 10 am little Rebecca Sue was here. It was the most amazing experience ever as I looked at my baby girl for the first time and realized that she was mine forever.
After such an amazing delivery, I was almost sent to the OR to have the placenta removed but luckily it came out in the nick of time and I was able to enjoy having my baby close. Kieran was of course glowing as he gazed at this beautiful creature we had created and my mom couldn't stop smiling as she witnessed the whole miracle. I was so glad to have such a good support team throughout the whole thing.

Now we are home and Becca is bringing joy into every heart that sees her. She is truly the most beautiful baby you have ever seen! She is currently fighting some nasty Jaundice and has to stay under Bili lights but hopefully that will be under control soon because I don't know how much more her parent's can take of it! We love you Becca Sue!
